Adolf Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945, just a few days before the end of World War II. He was found dead in his Berlin bunker, alongside his wife Eva Braun, who had also taken her own life. Hitler had been leading Germany in a losing battle against the Allied forces, and he knew the end was near. Some historians believe that Hitler chose to end his life to avoid being captured and put on trial for war crimes.
